To all SEMDA customers.

Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors, ladies and gentlemen

In our previous Newsletter in December, we informed you about our situation, situation at RI and the difficulties we have. Honestly saying, the progress of the SEMDA 3.0 project is rather slow and not really satisfactory. There are two main reasons:

1. There is running change of the API for the integration services at RI. SEMDA 3.0 is depends on this new API. We maintain very good contact to the RI team, but this project is behind its schedule. 
   
2. There is running change in the structure of the membership data in Polaris. This change is required to prepare Polaris for future membership models. There is also one migration project in progress and also development of a new event registration with online payment. We are reaching the limit of our available resources and we must finish these activities first.
   

The consequence is a delay of 4 months of the SEMDA 3.0 project. Of course we could implement SEMDA 3.0 based on the existing RI API and adapt to the new RI API at a later stage. But this bears a high risk that the SEMDA 3.0 API would have to be also changed. You, as customer of SEMDA would have to adapt your software twice.
And of course we could engage more resources, but it is a known fact, that adding people & money to a running project will not make it faster nor better.

That's why we did adapt the plan to these new milestones:

• We will publish the new SEMDA 3.0 API on 3. June 2024.  It will be an OpenAPI and it will be published in SwaggerHub.
  
• The test-bed will be available on 3. September 2024. From then on you will be able to run your integration tests.
  
• The productive use of SEMDA 3.0 will start on 4. November 2024. The test-bed will remain available after this time point.
  
• We expect that the SEMDA 2.0 will stay available until February 2025.

You will receive a termination letter for SEMDA AB in the next few days. This is to fulfill the legal obligations and the notice period stated in your contract. However the operation of SEMDA 2.0 remains under control of Kent Vesterberg until the new product 3.0 will be deployed into production. The support for SEMDA 2.0 is still carried out by Kent and Christer Lantz.
